In one of the week’s readings, Davis (2015) argues that disability is often left out of discussions of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Why do you think this might be? There are a couple of reasons as to why they are often left out. Adams et al. (2015), mention that these people are often treated as passive and voiceless. Given this perception, it is hard for their voices to be heard and be included in the DEI discussions. Most of us know that some disabilities are less visible compared to other diversity aspects such as race and gender. With these disabilities not being immediately apparent, it leads to a lack of awareness and understanding. Therefore, it becomes hard to have discussions regarding them in the DEI discussions. Another reason could be the stigma of certain disabilities. A couple of years back, I was watching a documentary regarding parents who give birth to mentally and physically disabled children and tend to hide them because of community stigma. Such stigma leads to these people not being able to advocate for their inclusion in DEI efforts. We have been discussing a lot about stereotypes and it still applies to this scenario. Stereotypes about disability persist in society and they can lead to false beliefs that accommodating people with disabilities is unnecessary.

·
What does the term “TAB” (temporarily able-bodied) mean in the context of disability studies? What does this term add to your understanding of disability? Disability can happen to anyone at any time, making it be more fluid than other forms of identity (Adams et al., 2015). With this knowledge, the term TAB arises and refers to the nondisabled who might be disabled at some point. It refers to persons who are currently able-bodied but may become disabled in the future due to illness, injury, or age-related conditions. What “TAB” adds to the understanding of disability is the recognition of its potential universality. It emphasizes that disability is not something experienced only by a specific group; rather, it’s a continuum of experiences that individuals may move in and out of over the course of their lives.

·
How might the concepts of intersectionality and privilege relate to the experiences of people with disabilities? Please give at least two examples. Intersectionality recognizes that individuals have multiple identities that intersect and influence their experiences. For example, a person with a disability who is also a racial minority may face unique challenges related to both disability discrimination and racial discrimination. When it comes to privilege, people with disabilities have fewer privileges compared to those without. Ridgway (2013) gives a list of these privileges and how they relate to disability. For instance, without a disability, you do not face disability discrimination in the workplace and people do not make fun of you.

Case Study  Mrs. L is a 63-year-old woman who reports constant back pain. Further inquiry into her medical history revealed that over the past 3 years, she has suffered fractures of her femur and wrist after minor falls. Explain the cause of pathological fractures in this patient. How could osteoporosis have been prevented in Mrs. L?

Assignment #1: Musculoskeletal Conditions
Please kindly use (APA, 7th ed.) references separately under each question.
Case Study
Mrs. L is a 63-year-old woman who reports constant back pain. Further inquiry into her medical history revealed that over the past 3 years, she has suffered fractures of her femur and wrist after minor falls.  She experienced menopause at age 49. Mrs. L has a secretarial job, drives to work, and she “does not have time for exercise.” She reports that she consumes 8 to 10 cups of coffee a day and has been a smoker most of her adult life. She has not seen her physician recently nor had a recommended bone density test because of the time and cost involved.
Questions
. Relate Mrs. L’s history to the diagnosis of osteoporosis. What risk factors are present,
and how does each predispose to decreased bone density?
. Explain the cause of pathological fractures in this patient. How could osteoporosis have been prevented in Mrs. L?
. Discuss the treatments available to the patient.
Assignment  #2: Cardiovascular system
Please kindly use (APA, 7th ed.) references separately under each question.
Case Study:
Mr. K. is a 57-year-old man who consulted his physician after noticing marked leg pains while playing golf. He had previously noticed increasing fatigue and discomfort in his legs associated with moderate exercise. When sitting for extended periods with legs dangling, his legs became red, and sometimes his feet felt numb. His history indicates he smokes cigarettes and is chronically overweight. His blood cholesterol and other lipid levels are abnormal, and his physician suspects peripheral atherosclerosis as the cause of his discomfort.
Questions
. Discuss the development of atherosclerosis, including the predisposing factors in this
case and the pathophysiological changes.
. Discuss the complications that might develop in this patient.
. Discuss the treatments for all aspects of the patient’s condition, including slowing the progress of the atherosclerosis, maintaining circulation in the leg, and treating complications.
Assignment #3: The Central Nervous system
Please kindly use (APA, 7th ed.) references separately under each question.
Case Study
Ms. J, a 19-year-old college student, has been living in a dormitory on campus. She began experiencing severe headaches, neck pain, and nuchal rigidity, along with irritability and nausea. She noticed that when lying with her hips flexed, she found it very hard to stretch out her legs. Within a day her condition deteriorated, she experienced a tonic-clonic seizure, and she was quickly admitted to the hospital. Tests revealed increased intracranial pressure, fever, and leukocytosis. Bacterial meningitis was suspected, and a lumbar puncture was scheduled.
Questions
. Describe the pathophysiologic changes associated with bacterial meningitis.
. Discuss the diagnostic tests available for identifying meningitis. What are the likely
characteristics of the CSF to be found in this case?
. Which signs indicating elevated intracranial pressure are likely to be present?
. Discuss the treatments available to help this patient and possible long-term
complications.
Assignment #4: Shock
Please kindly use (APA, 7th ed.) references separately under each question.
Case Study
Ms. L, a 19-year-old woman with no previous medical history, was involved in a serious automobile accident in which her best friend died. Examination by EMT personnel first on the scene revealed she had only minor scrapes and bruises and no sign of head trauma. While in route by ambulance to the hospital, Ms. L complained of thirst and appeared restless. Further examination indicated a rapid pulse and respirations, with her blood pressure now at 100/60 mm Hg. She appeared less responsive to the paramedics. She was slipping into circulatory shock as they checked her again for internal injuries.
Questions
. Discuss the contributing factors to shock in this case and the pathophysiologic
changes causing the changes in vital signs.
. Discuss the signs and symptoms of shock, including the rationale for each, as seen in
the early stage, and as compensation mechanisms respond.
. Discuss emergency and follow-up treatment for shock and for complications that may
 arise if not treated quickly.
. Compare the types of shock, giving a specific cause, classification, and any significant
changes in onset or manifestations.

Describe how your social style affects your ability as a leader to adapt to cultural differences.

UNIT III Case Study
Top of Form
There are two parts to this assignment that will allow you to express your understanding of this unit’s concepts.
For the first part, you will write a summary of the five communication principles covered in this unit and then offer analysis of the application of communication skills in real-world examples. Address the following in a written paper:
· Begin with a brief introduction that defines communication and explains its importance in effective leadership.
· Summarize each of the five communication principles discussed in this unit.
· For each principle, include an example (professional or personal) where you have effectively (or ineffectively) employed that principle.
· Analyze which of the three major communication skills were used in your example. Was your application of the skill effective? Why, or why not?
For the second part, reflect on your own social styles in a written paper. Understanding yourself, as well as others, aids in learning how to adapt to differences. We can develop better conflict management skills and more effective communication habits when we understand our own perspectives and learn to respect and adapt to others’ social, cultural, and generational differences. Follow the steps below.
1. Take the “Identifying Your Social Style” inventory in section 5.1.1 on page 49 of your eTextbook.
1. Summarize your results from your personal inventory.
1. Share your results with a family member or friend. Compare and contrast their perceptions with your own as you explain what this activity revealed to you about yourself.
1. Assess your results with the Style Flexing Guidelines for Enhancing Communication Effectiveness in section 5.1.2 on page 51 of your eTextbook. Using your results, evaluate what steps you would need to take in each area to increase your communication effectiveness.
1. Describe how your social style affects your ability as a leader to adapt to cultural differences.
1. What generational and gender areas do you feel you need to address to improve your communication skills?
1. Summarize your overall findings and the top three areas you will choose to focus on over the course of the next year to have more effective communication and be better able to adapt to differences.
Your case study must be a minimum of six pages, not including the title or reference pages. You must use two resources, not including the textbook, to support your case study. All sources used must have citations and references properly formatted in APA Style. APA formatting is otherwise not necessary. Describe potential change theories and leadership strategies that could help develop an interdisciplinary solution to an organizational issue.

Assessment 2 Instructions: Interview and Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
Top of Form
Bottom of Form
· PRINT
· For this assessment, you will create a 2-4 page report on an interview you have conducted with a health care professional. You will identify an issue from the interview that could be improved with an interdisciplinary approach, and review best practices and evidence to address the issue.
As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, your participation and leadership in interdisciplinary teams will be vital to the health outcomes for your patients and organization. One way to approach designing an improvement project is to use the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement describes it thus:
The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle is shorthand for testing a change in the real work setting—by planning it, trying it, observing the results, and acting on what is learned. This is the scientific method adapted for action-oriented learning…Essentially, the PDSA cycle helps you test out change ideas on a smaller scale before evaluating the results and making adjustments before potentially launching into a somewhat larger scale project (n.d.).
You might also recognize that the PDSA cycle resembles the nursing process. The benefit of gaining experience with this model of project design is that it provides nurses with an opportunity to ideate and lead improvements. For this assessment, you will not be implementing all of the PDSA cycle. Instead, you are being asked to interview a health care professional of your choice to determine what kind of interdisciplinary problem he or she is experiencing or has experienced in the workplace. This interview, in Assessment 2, will inform the research that you will conduct to propose a plan for interdisciplinary collaboration in Assessment 3.
It would be an excellent choice to complete the PDSA Cycle activity prior to developing the report. The activity consists of four questions that create the opportunity to check your understanding of best practices related to each stage of the PDSA cycle. The information gained from completing this formative will promote your success with the Interview and Interdisciplinary Issue Identification report. This will take just a few minutes of your time and is not graded.

Professional Context
This assessment will introduce the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Model to create change in an organization. By interviewing a colleague of your choice, you will begin gathering information about an interprofessional collaboration problem that your colleague is experiencing or has experienced. You will identify a change theory and leadership strategies to help solve this problem.
Scenario
This assessment is the first of three related assessments in which you will gather interview information (Assessment 2); design a proposal for interdisciplinary problem-solving, (Assessment 3); and report on how an interdisciplinary improvement plan could be implemented in a place of practice (Assessment 4). At the end of the course, your interviewee will have a proposal plan based on the PDSA cycle that he or she could present to stakeholders to address an interdisciplinary problem in the workplace.
For this assessment, you will need to interview a health care professional such as a fellow learner, nursing colleague, administrator, business partner, or another appropriate person who could provide you with sufficient information regarding an organizational problem that he or she is experiencing or has experienced, or an area where they are seeking improvements. Consult
the

Interview Guide [DOCX]

I post the example document with it. for an outline of how to prepare and the types of information you will need to complete this project successfully.

Remember: this is just the first in a series of three assessments.
Instructions
For this assessment, you will report on the information that you collected in your interview, analyzing the interview data and identifying a past or current issue that would benefit from an interdisciplinary approach. This could be an issue that has not been addressed by an interdisciplinary approach or one that could benefit from improvements related to the interdisciplinary approach currently being used. You will discuss the interview strategy that you used to collect information. Your interview strategy should be supported by citations from the literature. Additionally, you will start laying the foundation for your Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal (Assessment 3) by researching potential change theories, leadership strategies, and collaboration approaches that could be relevant to issue you have identified. Please be certain to review the scoring guide to confirm specific required elements of this assessment. Note that there are differences between basic, proficient and distinguished scores.
When submitting your plan, use
