Provides an introduction to the legal aspects of business. Students gain knowledge of the legal system in the United States, intellectual properties, contracts, Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), forms of business ownership, and the various roles within corporations from a legal perspective.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

height, diameter at breast height of a person, and bark thickness for a sample of 21
California redwood trees.

represents the sum of the ratings for food, decor, and service (use the enclosed excel file:

Spurious correlation refers to the apparent relationship between variables that either
has no true relationship or are re-related to other variables that have not been
measured. One widely publicized stock market indicator in the United States that is an
example of spurious correlation is the relationship between the National Football
League Super Bowl winner and the per- performance of the Dow Jones Industrial
Average in that year. The indicator states that when a team that existed before the
National Football League merged with the American Football League wins the Super
Bowl, the Dow Jones Industrial Average will increase in that year. Since the first Super

Bowl was held in 1967 through 2012, the indicator has been correct 37 out of 46 times.
Assuming that this indicator is a random event with no predictive value, you would

Gideon (also known as Jerubbaal and Jeruuesheth) was a well-known judge and military leader in the Bible. He led a battle, freeing the Israelites from Midian. As told in Judges 6-8 ( New International Version), Gideon defeated large armies with only 300 men. He reflected confidence, checked his sources, and knew how to use his resources.
As leaders, we would be wise to learn from Gideon. He understood his calling from God – to save Israel and help them turn from idolatry – and his mission – to defeat a large army with 300 men. To make sure he understood his mission, he asked God to provide three signs, which God did. As leaders, we need to check our sources and make sure we understand our vision and mission.
As Gideon prepared for battle, God instructed him to pare down the number of men in his army. With only three hundred men, Gideon led an attack that began with the sound of trumpets and defeated the Midianites. Have you ever been asked to lead what seemed like an impossible task?
