provide your conclusions and recommendations after considering both the pros and the cons.
The purpose of this activity is to provide you with an opportunity to research a “fad diet” / common weight loss approach in order to form an understanding of this eating style. For this activity, the intention is for you to debate the pros AND cons of a “fad” diet of your choice. My intent through having to argue both sides is I hope you come away with a more broad understanding of the topic than if you went into your research and hopefully limited the potential of bias trying to support only your current feelings. Having an understanding of pros and cons can help you as future health/fitness professionals really understand these eating styles more holistically.
Instructions
1) You will select a “fad diet”/ common weight loss approach and conduct research into the topic. You should have at minimum (2) scholarly, credible sources and include citations.
2) You will construct an argument FOR the diet/weight loss approach. This should be 3-5 sentences long explaining the potential benefits of the diet plan.
** Note this is not intended to be a promotion of diet culture. Consider this more of an exploration of why these “fad diets” become popular or how this style of eating could be helpful in certain situations.
3) You will construct an argument AGAINST the diet. This should be 3-5 sentences long explaining the risks and/or downfalls of the diet plan.
4) You will provide your conclusions and recommendations after considering both the pros and the cons. This should be 4-6 sentences outlining your recommendations and how you came to those. You are welcome to include personal anecdotes, just be sure to differentiate between science-backed evidence and your (or someone you know) lived experiences.
Once you have completed the steps above you will submit your document as directed

Purpose: Act Analysis
In this part of the assignment, you will perform, describe, and analyze your act. After you perform your act, compose a 5-page (1200-1500 words) task specifying your experiences. The first section (one-third to one-half of your paper) should describe your act and your responses to it, and the second section should analyze your act in terms of the scholarship on gender:
Section One (minimum 500 words):
Describe your act:
What did you do?
Where did you do it?
How did you prepare for it?
What responses did you get while performing your act?
How did you feel while performing your act?
What would you do differently if you had to perform this same act again? Would you perform the act in the same location and at same time? Would you change your appearance during the act? Would you do anything else differently?

(Please see attached for document listing the sources)
Referring directly to at least three academic sources for support (these may be pulled from the sources you identified and discussed in your Annotated Bibliography for Part 3 and/or the readings for this class), consider the potential impact of your act. Here are some questions to consider (you do not have to answer all of these questions; they are provided to help you to think about ways your act may have impact on society):
Can you explain the range of reactions to your act? Did those reactions reflect any of the sociological scholarship found in the course readings or in your research? Did any of the reactions challenge that research?
How do you think class, race, age, and sexuality came into play during the conception and performance of the act?
Was performing this act an act of feminism? Why? and, if so, what type(s) of feminism?
Was your act an act of activism? That is, could it help to create social change? If so, how?
