Stock Valuation and Investment Decisions

The links above contain information on stock valuation, risk, and returns. Please review each one of them. Based on the knowledge gained from the materials presented in the links above, complete the following activities:

Present a detailed discussion of what you learned about stock valuation. Provide examples of how your company has used the concepts. Do you believe financing a company’s operation using stock is better than financing with bonds? Why or why not? Support your discussion with a numerical example.

Based on the materials presented in the “Risk and Return” video (4th link), present a discussion on why the materials are important in financial decision-making. How would you incorporate risk and return in your financing decisions?

Describe two contemporary factors that seem to be impacting your industry today, and identify their impacts on the interest rates experienced within your chosen industry.

 Interest Rates

Many managers do not understand the various ways that interest rates can affect business decisions. For example, if your company decided to build a plant with a 30-year life and short-term debt financing (renewed annually), the cost of the plant could skyrocket if interest rates were to return to their previous highs of 12% to 14%. On the other hand, locking into high, long-term rates could be very costly also with a long period when low short-term interest rates were to be available. As you can see, the ability to know your economic environment and its impact on projected interest rates can be crucial to making good financing decisions.

Describe two to three macroeconomic factors that influence interest rates in general. Explain the effects of each factor on interest rates.

Now think about the industry in which you are employed or one in which you have past experience. To what macroeconomic factors is your industry most sensitive?

Describe two contemporary factors that seem to be impacting your industry today, and identify their impacts on the interest rates experienced within your chosen industry.

Support your comments with your own experiences, the weekly resources, and/or additional research. Use APA throughout and provide appropriate in-text citations and references.

What types of strategies and programs should be implemented that will facilitate community members’ abilities to alert law enforcement agencies of suspicious activity?

Community policing and terrorism do have a significant link in terms of allowing for the flow of information to occur. Police organizations can establish relationships and trust with community members and business owners to join in collaborative efforts to fight terrorism by sharing information. Terrorists do seek various ways to blend in with the community while making purchases of unsuspecting items and materials and making requests for permits or use of various facilities.

For this IP, you will have the choice of addressing ONE of two significant events described below. Choose an event and write a paper according to the assignment guidelines below.

Event 1

Recall the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City as an example; the bomb that exploded contained various common materials, one being fertilizer.

Event 2

Call to mind the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. The community assisted in the apprehension of one of the suspects. Social media factored into the investigation.

Assignment Guidelines

  • Address the following in 3–5 pages:
    • What types of businesses could be considered prime targets for terrorists to seek information, purchase items and supplies, or make requests for special permits or use of facilities? Explain.
      • How can these businesses be monitored by local law enforcement without infringing on civil liberties? Explain.
    • If business owners and community members become suspicious of unusual activities or requests, what should they do? Explain.
      • What types of strategies and programs should be implemented that will facilitate community members’ abilities to alert law enforcement agencies of suspicious activity? Explain.
    • What type of community-oriented policing program would allow for businesses and community members to share information with the police department if and when they suspect possible terrorist activities? Explain.
      • How can community members and business owners be effectively incorporated into successful community watch campaigns regarding terrorist activity? Explain.
    • How would the use of information technology allow for the flow of information to occur between the police department, business owners, and community members? Explain.
  • Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.
Analyze the event through the various perspectives on the interaction of personality and culture; religion; love, etc.

Hopefully, the reading this week provided you with a variety of new perspectives in how you might look at many of the current events we hear about in the news (terrorist threats, cultural differences, acts of kindness and charity, acts of violence, etc.). Here is your opportunity to dive deeper into one of those events.

Your assignment: Write a 1-2 page paper reflecting on a current event in the media (an event that occurred sometime within the past months) demonstrating elements of this week’s reading. (Examples that easily come to mind include a story on cultural conflict or an example of two previously opposing groups working with one another.) Analyze the event based on concepts from your reading. How might a further understanding of the concepts from this week provide deeper insights into the Hot Topic? Excellent papers will fully meet the criteria below:

· Identify a specific “Hot Topic” describing the event, providing a citation/link to the news story inspiring the paper.

· Analyze the event through the various perspectives on the interaction of personality and culture; religion; love, etc.

· Provide perspective and insights to further understand the issues using psychological principles as the primary foundation of the analysis.

· Cite specific sources, research, concepts, etc. from the readings of Week Seven.

· Contain a well-developed introduction, body, and conclusion as the structure of the paper.

· Are grammatically and mechanically sound, as well as, free of spelling errors; apply content from the reading; cites sources using APA style.

As you craft this paper, please be sure to minimize any personal editorializing surrounding the issue. The goal of the assignment is to view the current event from the perspective of personality influences and their interactions with the various concepts from this week.

Identify how you will evaluate responses to the interventions taken for each disorder.

Scenario

You are working as a nurse supervisor. You are finding a lot of new nurses are unfamiliar with certain endocrine disorders. You have decided to put together a guide for these nurses to educate them on different endocrine diseases and provide them with ways to provide quality multidimensional care.

Instructions

Compare and contrast two endocrine disorders within the guide. Include the following information:

· Identify and compare the causes and diagnostic tests.

· Identify and compare the signs and symptoms of the disorder.

· Describe the nurses’ role in caring for a patient that suffers from this disorder to include the multidimensional aspects of nursing care.

· Identify how you will evaluate responses to the interventions taken for each disorder.

What is the probability that a randomly selected gas station in the United States charges less than $3.50 per gallon?

Suppose that the average price for a gallon of gasoline in the United States is $3.73 and in Russia is $3.40. Assume these averages are the population means in the two countries and that the probability distributions are normally distributed with a standard deviation of $0.25 in the United States and a standard deviation of $.20 in Russia.

a. What is the probability that a randomly selected gas station in the United States charges less than $3.50 per gallon?

b. What percentage of the gas stations in Russia charge less than $3.50 per gallon?

c. If current average price for a gallon of gasoline in the United States is $3.63 with a standard deviation of $0.25. What is the probability that a randomly selected gas station in the United States charges less than $3.50 per gallon?
