Define insurance and an insurance policy.

#1 Small to medium businesses are exposed to risks on a daily basis. The impact of these risks could cause a decrease in revenue and/or an increase in expenses. As we all know, every business is subject to risks at any time. The potential losses as a result of unmanaged risks could be catastrophic. Insurance policies can be purchased that can help protect businesses from risks caused by certain events and from risks to their employees’ personal security. You have been given the task of persuading your business’s board of directors to purchase insurance policies that will help manage the risks mentioned above. The insurance policies have already been chosen, but now you must explain the details of the insurance policies, including the contracts involved in the policies to the board and convince the board that these policies really will protect the business from risks. In addition, you must describe what the terms in the insurance contracts mean and how they can be applicable to each business area.In order to do this, you will need to create a portfolio document with the following sections:

  • Define insurance and an insurance policy.
  • Identify the two basic types of insurance.
  • Describe how insurance policies can be used to protect the business from risks caused by certain events and from risks to their employees’ personal security while on the job.
  • Define the four essential elements of a valid insurance contract: offer and acceptance, consideration, legal capacity, and purpose.
  • Identify the common terms found in insurance contracts that specify exactly what risks an insurer will cover.
  • Define catastrophe theory and how it differs from risk management principles.
  • Discuss how catastrophe theory can be utilized by your organizations to manage and recover from risks.

Requirements:

  • There is no minimum or maximum required number of pages. Your response will be considered complete, if it addresses each of the components outlined above.
  • Use of proper APA formatting and citations – If supporting evidence from outside resources is used those must be properly cited. A minimum of 7 sources (excluding the course textbook) from scholarly articles or business periodicals is required.
  • Include your best critical thinking and analysis to arrive at your justification.

Offer three instances of information in the video that is out of date or even obsolete. Consider exploring what kinds of appeals are used to persuade the audience and why they no longer work.

Choose 1 video from the link below. If the link doesnt work let me know.

For the first summary assignment for ENG 111, we will have a little fun with summarizing.

We will summarize video you select from the provided videos. Each of the videos was an educational video, shown in classrooms many years ago. The films were selected because they feature outdated information or societal attitudes or obsolete technology. By virtue of being an educational video, these films were shown in schools; the videos we will see were targeted toward teenagers and older.

The videos to summarize are posted on a separate page. You must access one of those for this assignment to be accepted.
To summarize the videos, consider the following structure:

Paragraph one — Introduction: What did you watch?

Objectively introduce the video, including its title, producer, and year of release. Also include an overview of the subject matter. Finally, include a thesis that includes three pieces of evidence to be used in your third paragraph to prove the information is obsolete or outdated.

Paragraph two — Summary: What was the film about?

Again, objectively summarize the video. Answer the question above by describing the plot line of the video.

Paragraph three — Identifying: What was out of date in the video?

Offer three instances of information in the video that is out of date or even obsolete. Consider exploring what kinds of appeals are used to persuade the audience and why they no longer work.

Paragraph four — Conclude: Where have we been?

Sum up what you have just said. What was the film you watched about? Restate your thesis. What examples did you use to prove that the film was outdated? What could one gain from watching this themselves?

“I STATEMENTS” OR THE PRONOUN “I” ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THIS PIECE OF WRITING.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO REACT TO THE FILM OR SHARE YOUR OPINION — AT LEAST NOT OVERTLY.

Here are the videos from which you may select. They are all linked, in order on the “Videos for Summary One” page.

1.Globalization and Medical Tourism

2. Effect of Advertising on Attracting Medical Tourism

3. Effect of Medical Tourism on Health system in Africa

Develop a stakeholder analysis, what is important to each party and why?

Preparation

Read the assigned articles and watch the assigned videos.

Tasks

1. Choose a topic on data management and data privacy that has an ethical dilemma (a non-comprehensive list has been provided below). Take a position in favor or against the topic/company you chose. Provide both quantitative and qualitative information to support your position.

2. Propose a solution to the ethical dilemma. This could include legislation, regulation, monetization, or stopping a practice. Be specific in your recommended action.

3. Develop a stakeholder analysis, what is important to each party and why? How would your recommended solution impact each group? What could you do to influence your stakeholders to adopt your solution?

  • Two tools to help guide your stakeholder analysis:
    • STAKE HOLDER MATRIX & MANAGEMENT
    • STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS CHART

In discussing your position, in favor or against, ensure you are explicit about explaining what are the ethical dilemmas that affect the communities involved.

Word Count and Structure Guidelines

  • 750 to 1000 words
  • Include an opening paragraph (five to six lines) that summarizes the entire paper. This is not an intro that describes what the paper is about, rather this is a full summary of the paper. In other words, if your paper landed in the hands of busy executives, would they have a strong understanding of my analysis and recommendations by only reading the opening paragraph?
  • Do not answer the paper in a Q&A format.
  • Strengthen your storytelling by using numbers and charts, where/if relevant.
  • Provide a minimum of three (3) relevant sources, cited in A.P.A. format.

Scholarly Academic Sources

As mentioned in the rubric, you MUST use sources outside of the ones given to you already in the pre-readings. Check the box for “peer-reviewed” while performing your search on

IMPORTANT

  • You are expected to produce a “new-to-the-world” analytical piece.
  • It is NOT OK to simply piece together the work of others.

Non-Comprehensive List of Potential Topics

  • Tesla continuously recording pedestrians and other drivers, through the cameras around its vehicles. Those pedestrians and other non-Tesla drivers have nothing to do with driving or owning the Tesla that is recording them.
  • Police being banned from using their own LAPD records around gang profiles.
  • Zhenhua Data keeping a database of high-profile Australian citizens.
  • Platforms of co-creation of knowledge that store unreliable data used by data scientists. Consider
    • The teenager who wrote 10,000 + Wikipedia articles in Scottish without even knowing the language.
    • COVID-19 paper claiming that hydroxychloroquine posed a higher risk of death published by The Lancet peer-reviewed journal. Paper was later retracted due to the use of fictitious data.

What type of goal is this? What need does this meet for the client?

Overview: Now that we are in the assessment and planning phase of case management, it is your

turn to practice what you have learned! For this assignment, you will develop a case

plan for your client, Sue. This case plan will focus on setting goals and identifying

objectives to support your client in achieving each long or short-term goal.

Instructions: Using the provided Case Plan template, you will develop at least 5 goals and objectives

for Sue based on the information you have. Be sure to fill out each column fully for each

goal. Here are a few pointers and instructions regarding each column:

• Type/Need: What type of goal is this? What need does this meet for the client?

Is it related to income/finances, housing, education, transportation, medical?

Your responses for this column can be one-word responses that identify the

type/need.

• Goal: Identify the specific goal that you and Sue are setting to meet her identified

need. Remember to apply the concept of SMART goals to your work.

• Objectives: Identify at least 3 objectives for each goal. In applying the SMART

goal principles, these should be very specific steps that will help Sue achieve the

identified goal.

• Referral: Share what referral you have made for Sue, if needed. For example, if Sue’s

goal relates to employment, a possible referral may be to a job training program.

• Follow-Up/Check-In: When will you follow up with Sue? What will you follow-up about:

meeting one or more objective? Will you follow up after the goal has been met? Will you

follow up with the provider to determine that the referral has been completed?

Requirements:

• Your case plan must be submitted using the provided template attached to the

assignment in Blackboard.

do you think we need fundamental election (or voting) reform in this country and why?

The 2020 election was historic in many ways.  It was the largest overall turnout in history, there was more access to voting than in prior elections, and there were a slew of new protocols due to the pandemic.  Also, after the election, in part due to former President Donald Trump claiming the election was ‘stolen’, and the plethora of lawsuits the Trump team filed post-election, confidence in our electoral process dropped to the lowest it’s been in modern history.  In addition, during the election and early voting, the TV was plastered with images of people standing hours in line, and even showing up the day before voting open just to vote!  And, these long lines, were in places that have had a history of voter suppression – primarily ethnic minority neighborhoods.

Consequently, election reform became a major topic after the election.  But what type of reforms do we need?  Often times the more security measures you place on voting, the harder it is for people to vote.  Take Texas’s voter ID law for example.  Texas is one of the few states in America that require a birth certificate to get a driver’s license.  In addition, with so little state funding for social services, there are fewer locations to even get an ID than in other states.  And some TX residents have to travel a few counties over to find the closest DPS.  Consequently, Texas is one of the lowest voter turnout states in the US.  Conversely, the more open the process becomes, one could see bad actors taking advantage lax laws, which could very lead to an increase of fraud or at the minimum more voting irregularities.

First, do you think we need fundamental election (or voting) reform in this country and why?  If yes, what areas do you think need to be improved upon.

What suggestions do you have for your classmates on their network cabling?
  • What suggestions do you have for your classmates on their network cabling?
  • Are there any other suggestions for what they should consider for their equipment setup?

As someone who just started working from home for the first time ever this year, this is kind of fun to do.

  • Where are you moving to for your new work-from-home position? Which  ISPs are available at this location? Which do you pick and why?
    • I will be moving to Dallas, Texas, where there are a few ISP options  available, such as Fios, Cox and Xfinity. I will be using a trusted  nationwide company, Xfinity. I am using them because I have experience  with their speeds and reliability; if necessary, there are download  speeds up to 1200mbps(megabytes per second) available, which is more  than enough to work from my home (Xfinity). Xfinity also has wonderful  customer support and great deals on their services.
  • What equipment do you need for your work-from-home position? What  does your ISP provide? What does your employer provide? What do you need  to provide?
    • I will need two monitors, a high-quality router, a desktop, a  laptop, desk and chair, wireless headset, HDMI cables, surge protectors,  and a keyboard and mouse. My ISP is providing my router only. My new  job is supplying me with the laptop, monitors, keyboard and mouse and  headset. Everything else, I will purchase myself.
  • What types of network cabling will you be using and with which devices?
    • I’ll use an ethernet cable for the tower of the desktop and CAT5 for  the router. Everything else will be wireless aside from power cables  and HDMI for the monitors.
  • How do you determine the IP addresses on your devices?
    • The IP address can either be found in settings in the “About Device” section or in the command prompt.
  • How will you set up equipment in your office in your new home? Will  you be using wireless or hard wire for your network connection? What  else should be considered?
    • I’ll have a large L-shaped desk and have the monitors sitting side  by side on one part with the desktop tower and modem on one of the desk  shelves for hardwiring, and the laptop on the other side. The desktop  will be hardwired, but the laptop will be wireless. Both will be  connected to a VPN for added security with two-factor authentication.
× How can I help you?
