Explain the impact of feminism, patriarchy/gender roles, and social class on the family system you selected.

It is essential for mental health workers to understand the influence of external factors on family dynamics. This two-part assignment will help you learn this concept. Please complete both parts on the attachment, “Sociological Influences,” to adequately complete this assignment.

Part 1: Complete the chart on the provided attachment, citing two to four scholarly sources throughout the chart. While APA style is not required for the body of Part 1, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Part 2: Use the information in the chart to write a 500–750-word analysis on the same attachment.

Citing two to four scholarly sources, answer the following prompts:

  • Describe the diverse family system you selected.
  • Explain the impact of feminism, patriarchy/gender roles, and social class on the family system you selected.
  • Explain the impact of the economy on the family system: labor, wealth, consumers, etc.
  • Explain the impact of the state on the family system: laws, regulations, policies, education, etc.
  • Prepare Part 2 according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Analyze the piece based on two rhetorical modes (strategies) in a second paragraph

Analyzing and Evaluating Experiences

Every day, we encounter multiple media: videos, print articles, music videos, visual arts, film, TV shows, and graphics. Instinctively, we make choices about what we see and hear. We like or dislike the media based on personal preferences, past experiences, and our knowledge. A character in a film may touch our hearts or may be unbelievable.

In this course, we strengthen our critical analysis skills by identifying specific elements and strategies used by the author or creator of selected pieces, and organize our thoughts based on rhetorical modes (strategies). To get started watch the video below.

Task

Review the Week 1 Discussion Example

· For your initial post, select one medium—film, TV show, music video, or printed piece.

· Identify by title, author/creator/director and media

· Post a URL if available (You Tube video or link)

· Summarize the piece in one paragraph

· Analyze the piece based on two rhetorical modes (strategies) in a second paragraph

· Author’s note: Share your preference (like or dislike) for the selection and tell the audience why in a third paragraph.

Initial post should be a minimum of 250 words and posted by Wednesday.

Using the ecological model framework (Chapter 3), describe an intervention to reduce this problem.

WEEK ONE DISCUSSION 2

Ecological Models of Health Behavior

Choose a specific health problem/outcome and population of your choice (e.g., reducing fatal traffic accidents among adolescent boys in the United States). Do NOT select one of the health conditions discussed in detail in Chapter 3 (physical activity, tobacco use, obesity).

Using the ecological model framework (Chapter 3), describe an intervention to reduce this problem. Be sure to mention an intervention at EACH LEVEL of the framework (i.e., individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, public policy).

Your initial post should use APA formatted in-text citations when you are paraphrasing or directly quoting information from outside sources (including the textbook). You should also include APA formatting reference(s) at the end of your post. It is suggested that these posts be at least 150 words.

Which ones would you like to do in your career?

Review the categories (section headers) in HIT Courses. Which category or topics are you looking forward to learning more about? Which ones would you like to do in your career?

Purpose: Later in this course, you will be building a vision statement. This gives you some choices on topics to consider when planning your future.

Criteria for success: Your answer should be a paragraph of at least two sentences

Evaluate the influences that can contribute to differential diagnoses depending upon which side hires the psychologist to evaluate a criminal defendant.

Prior to beginning this journal, review Chapters 2, 3, and 8 in the textbook, read the article, Allegiance Bias in Statement Reliability Evaluations Is not Eliminated by Falsification Instructions (Links to an external site.), and watch the film, The PCL-R Checklist: A Measure of Evil (Links to an external site.). Examine the subjective nature of forensic psychology concerning the evaluation of criminal defendants and the use of the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) in forensic evaluations.

Your journal paper should be a minimum of 750 words in which you will reflect upon the following:

  • Evaluate the influences that can contribute to differential diagnoses depending upon which side hires the psychologist to evaluate a criminal defendant.
  • Determine how to minimize cognitive bias.
  • Discuss the process of diagnosing a defendant.
  • Discuss the legal implications of a negative diagnosis.

Assess, based on your assigned readings, including the assigned film, whether you believe that such assessments as the PCL-R can provide accurate predictions of an individual’s behavior. Cite examples from your readings that support your analysis.

In states in which marijuana is not legal, what paradigm would these laws be categorized under?

Civil Disobedience

For this assignment, make sure you post your initial response to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned.

To support your work, use your course and text readings and also use outside sources. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between two or more lines of reasoning in the discussion. Complete your participation for this assignment by the end of the week.

Laws in the US are constantly evolving as society continues to evolve. A great example of this evolution is the state of Washington legalizing marijuana. In this week’s lectures we compared the consensus and conflict paradigms and determined that laws can be an example of either paradigm.

Based on your learning answer the following question:

  • In states in which marijuana is not legal, what paradigm would these laws be categorized under?

Citizens can express themselves freely in the United States by exercising their Constitutional rights. One way citizens express themselves is through protests.

Based on this fact express your views on the following:

  • Discuss the concept of Civil Disobedience and how it is different from chronic law-breaking

Based on your discussion above answer the following questions:

  • At what times do you think people can use constitutional avenues?
  • At what point do these avenues become criminal behavior?
  • How should the police officers use constitutional avenues in their jobs?

In your response, discuss the following:

  • What is your role as a police officer during a protest of Civil Disobedience?
  • What are the possible ethical dilemmas that you could face during a protest?
  • If the protest turns violent, do you think there is a moral obligation on the part of a police officer to protect the nonviolent protestors, the general public, or both?
  • How would you, as a police officer, handle a protest that has the possibility of escalating into violence?
  • What are the ethical duties of the participants of the protest?

List these three goals in the order of importance and explain your reasoning: (a) allowing the public to express itself (b) protecting the public (c) enforcing the law.

Are efforts like To Catch a Predator and the law enforcement “bait” operations necessary?

To Catch a Predator

The theme of this discussion will be the question of whether the police should take proactive steps to identify potential criminals before a crime is actually committed. Post your opinion of the following issues, and support your comments with research and data:

As the Internet became common in American households, sexual predators took advantage of this method of instant communication. Of particular concern is the ability of predators to have access to children.

Law enforcement agencies now attempt to locate predators by posing as children in Internet chat rooms and through social media. In fact, for several years, the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) program Dateline ran a series called “To Catch a Predator,” in which adult volunteers would enter Internet chat rooms as “bait” for sexual predators seeking victims. These volunteers would agree to a live encounter if propositioned, at which point the predator would be exposed on television and arrested.

  • Are efforts like To Catch a Predator and the law enforcement “bait” operations necessary? Are they fair? Some decry these efforts as entrapment–are they? Be sure to find the actual definition of entrapment in order to be able to discuss this.

Another current issue concerns profiling. There have been instances where law enforcement officials have singled out persons of particular races or ethnicities for questioning.

  • Do you think the need for using profiling to apprehend criminals outweighs the potential for discrimination?
Who should pay for mental health services to patients with serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder?

Ashton is a 21-year-old single Caucasian male who is a college student at the local university. Ashton wore unmatched clothes and had a strong body odor, his shirts had armpit stains and looked like they had been worn several times without being washed. He came in due to several incidents in his dorm room and university. It started a little over two months ago. It started off with small accusations that Ashton’s roommate was reading his emails and texts on his phone when he was out of the room. Then one day his roommate came home to Ashton taking apart their thermostat because he thought his roommate was hiding a camera in it. His affect started to become flat, with the lack of emotions scaring his roommate. Ashton became nervous and secluded in his room due to the fear that people were spying on him and would sometimes lock his roommate out. His grades have begun to slip because he is consumed with his thoughts.

In your initial post,

First describe the patient’s symptoms and the available demographic and historical data.

If new terminology is introduced, be sure to explain to your peers what this entails.

Evaluate the plausibility of prescribing medication to a person who is vulnerable to schizophrenia, considering medication is often effective for most people who have psychotic symptoms. What are the possible advantages and disadvantages of this proactive approach to treatment?

See you required text for potential vulnerability factors. Be sure to cite in your writing.

Given the broad range of symptoms and social deficits that are often associated with psychotic disorders, these patients often need a broad array of services and support systems. Evaluate the most important forms of mental health services that would be helpful, both to these patients and their families, in addition to medication.

Analyze the political variables surrounding the cost of treatment. Who should pay for mental health services to patients with serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder? Should they be included in standard health insurance programs? Should they be prioritized like other medical disorders, such as cancer and heart disease?
