Draft a headline which answers the question: What would we like to read as the headline about this organization/company on this date in the year 2037?
Toolbox Exercise – Future Headline and Vision Statement
NOTE REGARDING TOOLBOX EXERCISES – These exercises are meant to be cumulative in nature. Each week we will perform an exercise that will serve as the foundation for your Strategic Plan and Final Presentation. Your frame of reference for these exercises should be the shoe company you manager on the Business Simulation Game.
The Toolbox Exercise for Session 2 may seem rather simple but it can be a task in which teams struggle reaching consensus. So, take your time and collaborate. This way you’ll come up with a product everyone will agree upon. Remember, this is another piece of the puzzle that will be your Strategic Plan and Final Presentation. Here is what your team needs to do:
· Draft a headline which answers the question: What would we like to read as the headline about this organization/company on this date in the year 2037?
· Based upon this headline, craft your company’s Vision Statement.
· Later in the strategic management process, refer back to this headline. The strategies are the “how” to achieve the headline.
· Submit the Vision Statement in the discussion area of the Virtual Team Page.
· Have your group facilitator submit the Vision Statement to this assignment dropbox.

What was the alleged premise of the Milgram experiment as told by the experimenter?
Watch the two videos on the Milgram Obedience Experiment and the Stanford Prison Experiment. Please answer the following questions:
For the Milgram experiment:
1) What was the alleged premise of the Milgram experiment as told by the experimenter?
2) What was the response of the experimenter when the subject said, ” How far can we go on this thing?”
3) What was the responses of the subjects who refused to continue?
4) What is the implication of the laughter displayed by some of the subjects?
5) Describe the responses of those subjects who continued despite the objections and pleadings of the one getting shocked.
6) The percentage of subjects who continued to the end was over 50%..an even higher percentage went past the voltage when the shocks started to inflict pain..why do you think this happened?
7) What does this experiment suggest about the power of “authority” and “obedience”?
8) What happened in follow-up experiments when the subjects could actually see or touch the “victim”? Why do you think this occurred?
For the Stanford Prison experiment:
1) How was the group of subjects split at the beginning of the experiment and what were they told?
2) What started to happen shortly after the experiment started?
3) Describe the behaviors of the “guards” and the “prisoners”.
4) What does these behaviors suggest about the concept of authority as a form of behavior control?
5) What prevented “good guards” from objecting or countermanding the orders from tough or bad guards?
6) What was the response of the guards when the prisoners stated to rebel? How did the prisoners react to this?
7) How do the ethical dilemmas in this research compare with the ethical issues raised by Stanley Milgram’s obedience experiments? Would it be better if these studies had never been done?

Listen this 31 minutes podcast and answer the questions. No need to use formal words.
1. Explain how the food banks improved efficiency by creating a market system to allocate food.
2. Each food bank was given “money” (shares) based on need and number of clients served. How does that differ from how a real market works, and what effect does that have on distribution/allocation? Which method do you think is better?
3. One main topic of the podcast is whether market forces are the best way to allocate scarce resources. A major debate going on these days is how much market forces should be used in allocating resources in education (for example should all schools be private) and health care (other wealthy nations have national health care, not the largely private system we use the US). Choose one of these areas (education or health care) and briefly explain why you think markets should or should not be used.
