Case Assignment
For this Case Assignment, write an essay in which you discuss the cultural differences of two respected companies that are successful in their industry, Zappos and Amazon.
After you discuss the cultures of Zappos and Amazon, your ultimate final question is whether the purchase of Zappos by Amazon in 2009 was the right strategy based on the findings of your own online library research and the articles provided. You must support your response to that question with at least one high-quality reference which must come from the Trident Online Library.
Prepare a 4- to 5-page (not including title page and references) critique per the following format:
Title Page. Be sure to include 5 components of relevant information (e.g., Name, Class, Professor, Assignment, Date) on the title page.
Introduction. Discuss the topic of the paper and how you will approach it. It is best to write this section after you have written the rest of the paper. The title of this first section is NOT the word Introduction; it is the company names for this assignment, that is, Zappos vs. Amazon. (The heading for each of the other sections of the paper are in bold in the following four subtopics.)

It was or was not a good decision for Amazon to Purchase Zappos. Make an argument that Amazon made the right or wrong choice to purchase Zappos. Discuss the specific differences between the cultures of Amazon and Zappos in support of your position. Be sure to use the background material by supporting your writing with at least one high-quality peer-reviewed journal article found in the Trident Online Library.
Conclusion. Discuss the key points in your analysis that demonstrate the importance of understanding that organizational cultures are not easily changed and why culture should be a primary consideration when organizations contemplate an acquisition or merger.
Reference List. List all references that you cited in the paper using APA or other standard formatting. References include materials from the required background readings as well as any outside high-quality, peer-reviewed library sources you used in researching and writing your paper. Their purpose is to take the reader directly to the page on which you learned some information. In which ways has the Asian American Pacific Islander community been effected by wars and imperialism on the racialized and often racist AAPI bodies in relation to the United States?
Critical Paper #1 EXAMPLE
In the introduction of Eating Asian American the authors described how Food and the Asian American identities are tied together through the racialized bodies of Asian American. That is, Asian American food have been constructed historically in the United States, through “social, political, economic, and historical forces, as well as power inequalities, including discriminatory immigrations and law , have circumscribed Asians materially and symbolically in the alimentary realm –“(Ku and Ai, pg 1). Asian American is a racially termsin the United States and the books centers the study of culinary practices to theorized Asian Americanness. Each scholarship refused to celebrate and yield to the “superficial multiculturalism” (pg 3), that is celebrated in America.
In the What Do We Eat, we see a difference kind of narrative, in which the author wants to celebrate multiracialism through Food. Gabaccia in the introduction argues the balance between the power of food as “multi-ethnic” foodways towards solidarity versus “authenticity” of food in different regions. Gabaccia refers to Schlesinger as they suggest that “Americans are best united as a people when they lose their ties and loyalties to particularistic regional and cultural communities” (p. 227). That is Gabaccia wants to celebrate that as a nation we are a nation of multi-ethnics and that Food is a reflective of that.
The part in which I find most confusing or I questioned is whether Asian American Identity and and Food can exist in both realms at the same time. We talked about this in the class; whether Food brings people together or can be a used weapon against each people. Either way, the book and the conversations really shows me that Food is not simply just food but is closely tied to how Food and the Asian American identity is constructed as a whole in the United States.
My starter question is:
Identify at least one possible solution for improving health equity for this issue
1) Identify a health disparity in an environmental health issue. (e.g. race and access to safe drinking water, higher exposure to pesticides in farm workers). If you are looking at Above the Fold every day, you should find plenty of good examples. It may be best to pick something that is new to you, rather than something you are already familiar with. It is also more interesting to pick something that is new and/or surprising to you.
2) Discuss the social and environmental determinants of health in play. Consider possible causes for the disparity.
3) Identify all the parties that are involved in this issue.
4) Identify at least one possible solution for improving health equity for this issue
