Purpose:Analyze and apply critical thinking skills in the psychopathology of mental health patients and provide treatment and health promotion while applying evidence-based research.Scenario:
Jax is a 66-year-old Caucasian female whose wife has encouraged her to seek treatment. She has never been in therapy before, and has no history of depression or anxiety. However, her alcohol use has recently been getting in the way of her marriage, and interfering with her newly-retired life. She describes drinking increasing amounts over the last year, currently consuming approximately a six-pack of beer per day. She notes that this amount “doesn’t give me the same buzz as it used to.” She denies ever experiencing “the shakes” or any other withdrawal symptoms if she skips a day of drinking.
Jax comments that her wife is her biggest motivation to decrease her alcohol use. She tells Jax that she gets argumentative and irritable when she drinks, though she does not always remember these incidents. She has also fallen while intoxicated twice, causing bruises both times and hitting her head on one of the occasions.

Composition Exercise Directions
I’ll score your composition exercise on a 4-point scale with a point for format, a point for content, a point for focus and a point for clarity.
For your two composition exercises please write:
1. (format) a 500-word composition. Use Courier New, 12-point font and double space and MLA style.
2. (content) Your composition needs a main idea and specific details that support your response to the topic. Support comes from examples from your life, stories or what you’ve read and researched.
3. (focus) Stay focused on the topic. Everything you write should have a connection to the topic and your ideas.
4. (clarity) When you proofread check for common errors like fragments, run-on’s, commonly confused words, tense shift, subject-verb disagreement, spelling, etc. Try to adhere to the KISS Principle. This means keep your sentences short and simple and divide your composition into short, easy to read paragraphs. For a 500-word composition you should have between six and eight paragraphs.

Creative Self-Assessment Report
Introduction
In the first class you completed a creative self-assessment. Its design was informed by the Runco Ideational Behavior Scale, which you can learn a little more about in this week’s reading “Defining Creativity Through Assessment.” You completed the self-assessment for two reasons, 1) to reflect upon your personal creativity with the goal of identify potential strengths, areas for improvement, and motivations; and 2) to learn a little more about how scholars conceptualize, measure, and study creativity.
Unlike the Runco Ideational Behavior Scale, the self-assessment designed for this course has not undergone rigorous peer review. In other words, the results are not super-rigorous but they do provide a helpful starting point for reflecting upon your creativity and how to improve. The self-assessment designed for this course targets 7 areas related to personal creativity that we’ll continue to explore throughout the semester: originality, fluency, flexibility, play, life-long learning, openness, and confidence.
This report summarizes the output of your self-assessment via a scale of 4 (strongly agree) to 1 (strongly disagree). For each competency, you’ll find the average and mode.

1. What competencies appear to be strengths? What actions have you taken to foster those competencies (either intentionally or unintentionally).
2. What competencies might benefit from some further development? Make sure you explain why you believe they need further development.
