Is the contemporary (i.e., post World War II) globalization period unique and unprecedented, or is it mostly comparable and similar to a past globalization period? Briefly state a definition of globalization based on class materials. Identify at least one element of contemporary globalization that is unique. Identify at least one element of contemporary globalization that is similar to a historical predecessor. Your post should refer to the arguments made by the authors of module 1 readings and consider the relevant evidence in making a clear and persuasive case for contemporary globalization being best regarded as mostly unprecedented or as mostly comparable to a past globalization period. Clearly identify within text the readings you are citing by the author’s name and page number (e.g., when referring to a chapter in the Lechner and Boli book, name the author of the chapter rather than only refer to the book).

your first post should be 3-4 paragraphs long

Discuss the differences and similarities of the founder/venerated ancestor of each chosen religion. Provide specific details.

Overview

Throughout this class we have looked at the major world religions. In the textbook, we began our studies with four existential questions of religion that guide the study of religions. In this assignment we will focus on the third question: How can what is wrong in the world—and in me—be corrected? We will attempt to answer this question by comparing and contrasting two religions and their views on 1. founders/venerated ancestors and 2. ethics/virtues.

Instructions

Choose two world religions that intrigue you the most from the following list:

  • Indigenous religions.
  • Hinduism.
  • Buddhism.
  • Jainism.
  • Sikhism.

Note: if you select Islam for comparison, it is suggested that you first complete a comparison chart to help guide your thinking.

Write a 2–4 page paper in which you:

  1. Discuss the differences and similarities of the founder/venerated ancestor of each chosen religion. Provide specific details.
  2. Compare the ethics/virtues of each chosen religion. Provide specific details.
  3. Examine how each religion might answer the third existential question including how their answers are similar and different. Use outside sources to provide evidence for your answer.
  4. Make a recommendation that both religions would find acceptable for living a moral life.
  5. Explain why you made your recommendation. Use outside sources to provide details for your explanation.
  6. Use two credible sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides.

Choose  two historical events  and add your own personal memory and perspective  upon them. What was so “strange and marvelous” about them? What might  you tell your children and grandchildren about these events? What words  of “present-day wisdom” might you impart to them from this memory?

Please  make this exercise a personal reflection, as each of our memories are  indeed personal. You may use the Internet in the event you need  additional background information as you write.

Evaluate the impact of patient characteristics on disorders and altered physiology

 Case Study Analysis

An understanding of cells and cell behavior is a critically important component of disease diagnosis and treatment. But some diseases can be complex in nature, with a variety of factors and circumstances impacting their emergence and severity.

Effective disease analysis often requires an understanding that goes beyond isolated cell behavior. Genes, the environments in which cell processes operate, the impact of patient characteristics, and racial and ethnic variables all can have an important impact.

An understanding of the signals and symptoms of alterations in cellular processes is a critical step in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For APRNs, this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Evaluate cellular processes and alterations within cellular processes
  • Analyze alterations in the immune system that result in disease processes
  • Identify racial/ethnic variables that may impact physiological functioning
  • Evaluate the impact of patient characteristics on disorders and altered physiology

In this Assignment, you examine a case study and analyze the symptoms presented. You identify cell, gene, and/or process elements that may be factors in the diagnosis, and you explain the implications to patient health.

The Assignment (2-page case study analysis)

Develop a 1- to 2-page case study analysis in which you:

  • Explain why you think the patient presented the symptoms described.
  • Identify the genes that may be associated with the development of the disease.
  • Explain the process of immunosuppression and the effect it has on body systems.
