Identify a current policy problem for American national security, and then state a preferred policy solution to it and why it’s preferred
Instructions
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate knowledge of how the federal system of government works. Examine what the different branches and layers of government do to address a policy using a current issue to illustrate it. It is NOT to give your personal opinions on the issue.
Complete a research esay on how the federal government creates national security policy.
National security is always an issue in the United States. Here are the aspects and questions to address for this esay:
- Identify a current policy problem for American national security, and then state a preferred policy solution to it and why it’s preferred (This is your thesis statement).
- Briefly explain two competing solutions to this problem while addressing the responsibilities of each level of government (federal, state, and local) and the three branches of the federal government (executive, legislative, and judicial).
- Build the argument for why your chosen solution is preferable, what critics say about the solution, and finally why the critics are wrong.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 750 word target length (about three pages), not including references listed at the end or footnotes if used.
- Inclusion of facts from a recent news article about the topic/solution.
- Correct spelling, grammar, and formatting, whether it’s APA, MLA, or Chicago/Turabian.
Writing tips:
1) Write concisely! More is not necessarily better if the required points from the rubric are missed.
2) Esays should be written in the third person perspective. (Avoid using “I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, you, your”).
Explain when it is appropriate to use this rating scale with clients during the psychiatric interview and how the scale is helpful to a nurse practitioner’s psychiatric assessment.
Assessment and Diagnosis of the Psychiatric Patient
A sensitively crafted intake assessment can be a powerful therapeutic tool. It can establish rapport between patient and therapist, further the therapeutic alliance, alleviate anxiety, provide reassurance, and facilitate the flow of information necessary for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
—Pamela Bjorklund, clinical psychologist
Whether you are treating patients for physical ailments or clients for mental health issues, the assessment process is an inextricable part of health care. To properly diagnose clients and develop treatment plans, you must have a strong foundation in assessment. This includes a working knowledge of assessments that are available to aid in diagnosis, how to use these assessments, and how to select the most appropriate assessment based on a client’s presentation.
This week, as you explore assessment and diagnosis of patients in mental health settings, you examine assessment tools, including their psychometric properties and appropriate uses. You also familiarize yourself with the DSM-5-TR classification system.
If you were to give a box of 100 different photographs to 10 people and ask them to sort them into groups, it is very unlikely that all 10 people would sort them into the exact same groups. However, if you were to give them a series of questions or a classification system to use, the chances that all 10 people sort them exactly the same increases depending on the specificity of the system and the knowledge of those sorting the photographs.
This is not unlike what has occurred in the process of classifying mental disorders. A system that provides enough specificity to appropriately classify a large variety of mental disorders while also attempting to include all of the possible symptoms, many of which can change over time, is a daunting task when used by a variety of specialists, doctors, and other professionals with varied experience, cultures, expertise, and beliefs. The DSM has undergone many transformations since it was first published in 1952. Many of these changes occurred because the uses for the DSM changed. However, the greatest changes began with the use of extensive empirical research to guide the creation of the classification system and its continued revisions.
In order to assess and diagnose patients, you must learn to use the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, usually abbreviated as the DSM-5-TR, to render a diagnosis. In this second week of the course, you will examine how DSM-5-TR is organized and how clinicians use it to render diagnoses.
Discussion: The Psychiatric Evaluation and Evidence-Based Rating Scales
Assessment tools have two primary purposes: 1) to measure illness and diagnose clients, and 2) to measure a client’s response to treatment. Often, you will find that multiple assessment tools are designed to measure the same condition or response. Not all tools, however, are appropriate for use in all clinical situations. You must consider the strengths and weaknesses of each tool to select the appropriate assessment tool for your client. For this Discussion, as you examine the assessment tool assigned to you by the Course Instructor, consider its use in psychotherapy. To Prepare:· Review this week’s Learning Resources and reflect on the insights they provide regarding psychiatric assessment and diagnosis.· Consider the elements of the psychiatric interview, history, and examination.· Consider the assessment tool assigned to you by the Course Instructor.
For the discussion
Post a brief explanation of three important components of the psychiatric interview and why you consider these elements important. Explain the psychometric properties of the rating scale you were assigned. Explain when it is appropriate to use this rating scale with clients during the psychiatric interview and how the scale is helpful to a nurse practitioner’s psychiatric assessment. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.

How might an interdisciplinary approach improve the author’s treatment of the issue?
Select an article on a controversial public policy issue from a major publication such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, or another periodical or newspaper. (avoid, for example, politically-motivated sources, cable news, your uncle’s Facebook feedback) Ask these questions of the author of the article, being careful to provide “in text” evidence to support your analysis:
- Does the author place the issue in a broad context? How?
- Does the author suffer from tunnel vision?
- Does the author discount or ignore other perspectives on the issue?
- Does the author propose a creative solution to the issue?
- Does the author address the issue comprehensively?
- How might an interdisciplinary approach improve the author’s treatment of the issue?
Based on your self-assessment and theory of nursing practice, develop three to four (3–4) measurable goals and objectives for this practicum experience.
Assignment 2: Clinical Skills Self-Assessment
Before embarking on any professional or academic activity, it is important to understand the background, knowledge, and experience you bring to it. You might ask yourself, “What do I already know? What do I need to know? And what do I want to know?” This critical self-reflection is especially important for developing clinical skills such as those for advanced practice nursing.
The PMHNP Clinical Skills List and PMHNP Clinical Skills Self-Assessment Form provided in the Learning Resources can be used to celebrate your progress throughout your practicum and identify skills gaps. The skills list covers all necessary skills you should demonstrate during your practicum experiences.
To Prepare
· Download the PMHNP Clinical Skills Self-Assessment Form to complete this Assignment. (See attached Word Document)
· For this Assignment (just as you did in PRAC 6645), you assess where you are now in your clinical skill development and make plans for this practicum. Specifically, you will identify strengths and opportunities for improvement regarding the required practicum skills. In this practicum experience, when developing your goals and objectives, be sure to keep assessment and diagnostic reasoning in mind. As you complete your self-assessment this week, you may wish to look back over your self-assessments from prior practicums to reflect on your growth. The assessment should look better and show progress from previous course and the goals need to be different.
Please review the Clinical Skill Self-Assessment done for previous course.

What Is the Best Type of Marketing Research?
What Is the Best Type of Marketing Research?
Many market researchers have their favorite research approaches or techniques, though different researchers often have different preferences. Some researchers maintain that the only way to really learn about consumers or brands is through in-depth, qualitative research. Others contend that the only legitimate and defensible form of marketing research uses quantitative measures.
Take a position: The best marketing research is quantitative in nature versus the best marketing research is qualitative in nature.

The Equifax Incident
This paper centers on the Equifax incident of 2017. Here is an excerpt:
“On September 7, 2017, US credit reporting company Equifax publicly announced that it had been the target of a cyberattack and that the personal information of over 145 million customers – including Social Security Numbers, driver’s license numbers, email addresses, and credit card numbers – had been stolen. The announcement sparked a massive backlash, as consumers and public officials questioned how a company that managed sensitive personal information for over 800 million individuals could have allowed such a breach to happen. It became apparent that Equifax had been criticized for a lack of cybersecurity preparedness.
The case discusses the events leading up to the massive data breach at Equifax, one of the three U.S. credit reporting companies, the organizational and governance issues that contributed to the breach, and the consequences of the breach. The case supplement provides details of how Equifax recovered from the breach and changes the company made. On September 7, 2017, Equifax announced that the personal information of over 140 million consumers had been stolen from its network in a catastrophic data breach, including people’s Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, email addresses, and credit card information. The announcement sparked a massive backlash, as consumers and public officials questioned how a company that managed sensitive personal information about over 800 million individuals could have such insufficient security measures. It came to light that Equifax had been aware of critical faults in its cybersecurity infrastructure, policies, and procedures for years but had failed to address them. Equifax’s public response also received criticism. CEO Richard Smith and numerous other executives resigned, and Equifax was left facing dozens of lawsuits, government investigations, and the potential for new regulation.”1
