What is knowledge discovery in databases (KDD)?
This week we focus on the introductory chapter in which we review data mining and the key components of data mining. In an essay format answer the following questions:
1. What is knowledge discovery in databases (KDD)?
2. Review section 1.2 and review the various motivating challenges. Select one and note what it is and why it is a challenge.
3. Note how data mining integrates with the components of statistics and AL, ML, and Pattern Recognition.
4. Using RapidMiner or Python (and any predictive algorithm) create a model of the iris dataset and describe how your model is classifying the results. Include a graphic (or screenshot) of your work.
5. Note the difference between predictive and descriptive tasks and the importance of each.
Note: In an APA7 formatted essay answer all questions above. There should be headings to each of the questions above as well. Ensure there are at least two-peer reviewed sources to support your work. The paper should be at least two pages of content (this does not include the cover page or reference page).
Explain the biological (genetic and neuroscientific); psychological (behavioral and cognitive processes, emotional, developmental); and social, cultural, and interpersonal factors that influence the development of psychopathology.
Psychopathology and Diagnostic Reasoning
Week 1: History and Theories of Psychopathology
The history of the diagnosis of mental disorders is fraught with examples of how cultural norms and prejudices interfere with and warp a diagnosis. The result is that normal behavior and orientations have been pathologized as an illness or disease. An example of this would be the story of Alan Turing, the famous British computer scientist of the 20th century, who was instrumental in inventing modern computers and deciphering German code in World War II. He was convicted in 1952 in England of gross indecency for being gay. Turing was forced by the courts to undergo 12 months of hormone therapy and could no longer work for the British government. At the time, homosexuality was pathologized as a mental disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and was criminalized in most Western countries. It was not until 1973 that the American Psychiatric Association (APA) finally removed homosexuality from the DSM.
Historically, the process of rendering a diagnosis has been used to pathologize those who fell outside what was considered the cultural norm of human behavior. This process often marginalized diagnosed populations and prevented individuals from receiving appropriate care. It is of utmost importance to consider cultural issues that influence how you as a clinician interpret a client’s behavior and how cultural issues influence how a client may express behavior. This week, you explore the history of psychopathology and the evolution of theoretical perspectives in the field.
Discussion: Factors That Influence the Development of Psychopathology
In many realms of medicine, objective diagnoses can be made: A clavicula is broken. An infection is present. TSH levels meet the diagnostic criteria for hypothyroidism. Psychiatry, on the other hand, deals with psychological phenomena and behaviors. Can these, too, be “defined objectively and by scientific criteria (Gergen, 1985), or are they social constructions?” (Sadock et al., 2015).
Thanks to myriad advances during recent decades, we know that psychopathology is caused by many interacting factors. Theoretical and clinical contributions to the field have come from the neural sciences, genetics, psychology, and social-cultural sciences. How do these factors impact the expression, classification, diagnosis, and prevalence of psychopathology, and why might it be important for a nurse practitioner to take a multidimensional, integrative approach?
To Prepare:
· Review this week’s Learning Resources, considering the many interacting factors that contribute to the development of psychopathology.
· Consider how theoretical perspective on psychopathology impacts the work of the PMHNP.
For the discussion
Explain the biological (genetic and neuroscientific); psychological (behavioral and cognitive processes, emotional, developmental); and social, cultural, and interpersonal factors that influence the development of psychopathology.
Use at least 3 Evidenced based resources
Respond to at least two of your colleagues on 2 different days by explaining the implications of why, as an advanced practice nurse, it is important to adopt a multidimensional, integrative model of psychopathology.
Explain how this global societal issue impacts a specific population.

This is my discussion answer for week one this should help you with the assignments for this week’s assignment and week 5 as well.
· Identify a global societal issue from the following list that you would consider researching further for your Week 5 Final Paper: International drug trafficking
· Lack of education
· Describe effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down to just one of the topics to further research for your Final Paper.
The method I use was process of elimination At first I decided to focus on international drug trafficking, its a especially with the R.I.C.C.O case going viral on social media. Then I decided to chose poverty and income inequality, but this situation has been going on for so long, writing a paper on it wouldn’t give the challenge I need. Finally, I chose Lack of education, this topic hit home for because of COVID 19 children were unable to attend school, instead at home for virtual learning then switch back to in school. My oldest son stayed back a grade due to the big adjustments being mad. Typing this paper will be a very amusing I believe.
· Explain three ways you can critically analyze sources to determine if they are scholarly.
One way to ensure the context of the source information is comprehensible and there is no plagiarism. Another way is to ensure the publisher has a good reputation, if not your work will be based off myth rather than facts. Lastly, research the author credentials, searching if their qualified for subject.
· Summarize information from at least two scholarly journal articles from the UAGC Library that will support your claims for your chosen topic.
· Explain why scholarly sources should be used to support your writing on the selected topic.
The School Performance among Children and Adolescents during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Review and Virtual Learning in a Pandemic and Its Effects on Lower-Income Students: How the Education Gap is Widening Beyond Repair. To support my point of views on the advantages and disadvantages, such as children in low income homes, children were not given the proper resources, and children’s medical issues.
The second on A VIEW OF ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING DURING THE PANDEMIC is to give me insight on the statistic effect, affects, and improvements of virtual learning.

Explain why a thorough psychiatric assessment of a child/adolescent is important.
Discussion: Comprehensive Integrated Psychiatric Assessment
Photo Credit: Seventyfour / Adobe Stock
Many assessment principles are the same for children and adults; however, unlike with adults/older adults, where consent for participation in the assessment comes from the actual client, with children it is the parents or guardians who must make the decision for treatment. Issues of confidentiality, privacy, and consent must be addressed. When working with children, it is not only important to be able to connect with the pediatric patient, but also to be able to collaborate effectively with the caregivers, other family members, teachers, and school counselors/psychologists, all of whom will be able to provide important context and details to aid in your assessment and treatment plans.
Some children/adolescents may be more difficult to assess than adults, as they can be less psychologically minded. That is, they have less insights into themselves and their motivations than adults (although this is not universally true). The PMHNP must also take into consideration the child’s culture and environmental context. Additionally, with children/adolescents, there are lower rates of neurocognitive disorders superimposed on other clinical conditions, such as depression or anxiety, which create additional diagnostic challenges.
In this Discussion, you review and critique the techniques and methods of a mental health professional as the practitioner completes a comprehensive, integrated psychiatric assessment of an adolescent. You also identify rating scales and treatment options that are specifically appropriate for children/adolescents.
To Prepare
· Review the Learning Resources and consider the insights they provide on comprehensive, integrated psychiatric assessment. Watch the Mental Status Examination B-6 and Simulation Scenario-Adolescent Risk Assessment videos.
· Watch the YMH Boston Vignette 5 video and take notes; you will use this video as the basis for your Discussion post.
·
Based on the YMH Boston Vignette 5 video, post answers to the following questions:
· What did the practitioner do well? In what areas can the practitioner improve?
· At this point in the clinical interview, do you have any compelling concerns? If so, what are they?
· What would be your next question, and why?
·
Then, address the following. Your answers to these prompts do not have to be tailored to the patient in the YMH Boston video.
· Explain why a thorough psychiatric assessment of a child/adolescent is important.
· Describe two different symptom rating scales that would be appropriate to use during the psychiatric assessment of a child/adolescent.
· Describe two psychiatric treatment options for children and adolescents that may not be used when treating adults.
· Explain the role parents/guardians play in assessment.
·
Support your response with at least three peer-reviewed, evidence-based sources and explain why each of your supporting sources is considered scholarly. Attach the PDFs of your sources.

What does this reveal about ancient ideas of gender and power?
This is a multistep prompt in which you have to answer each of the questions posed to you.
The first part of this prompt is to assess your overall interest and knowledge of mythology: how familiar are you with the myths we have read this first week, and what are you looking forward to learning about the most? Please carefully review the syllabus and the myths we are covering in order to answer this part of the question.
Next, consider how the gods interact with one another and with human beings. In doing so, be careful to explain your impression of them, using examples and/or quotes from the text to support your answer.
This final part of the prompt is quite complex, so please address the instances that interest you the most from this week’s reading: look very carefully at how male and female characters (this includes the gods and goddesses) are portrayed in the myths we have read this week. Do you see instances where one gender is portrayed more negatively than the other? What does this reveal about ancient ideas of gender and power? Be certain to refer to specific passages and/or quotes from the text to support your answer.
Guidelines
· Your initial response should be at least 500 words in length
· Use MLA format for any quotations or citations that you use to support your answer
