What makes research writing different than ordinary information/observation writing?

Find a research article – Mobile technology preferred; but any technology topic is acceptable. A research effort is usually placed in the context of a “business problem” that can be understood in terms of carefully designed research questions; this allows for maximum research, understanding, and participation around resolving the problem.
Evaluation criteria – notice what specific research components (Title, Abstract, Method, etc.) are found in the article

  • State the name of the article you found and that is being evaluated and who the author(s) is/are.
  • What is this article about – talk about its context (what is the topic; its purpose, and significance to what/whom)?
  • What components of a research format is included in this article?
  • How does this format contribute to the purpose of the writing?
  • Do the author(s) use this format in a way that furthers research – what other component(s), if any, might be helpful to that purpose?

Discuss the follow general guidelines in the course of evaluating:

  • What makes research writing different than ordinary information/observation writing?
  • Identify and explain major components of a research paper format.
  • Why use peer-reviewed journals in research?
  • Why are keywords used in the Abstract and during the Literature Review process?
  • Why use/apply APA basic citation style in these writing assignments?

Contrast the differences between a stock dividend and a stock split.

Please respond to the following:

  • Contrast the differences between a stock dividend and a stock split.
  • Imagine that you are a stockholder in a company. Determine whether you would prefer to see the company that you researched declare a 100% stock dividend or declare a two-for-one split. Provide support for your answer with one real-world example of your preference.

From Proffesor:

For this question the main difference between stock dividend and stock split is that a dividend is normally a percentage to purchase more common shares for stakeholders whereas a stock split is two or more new shares for every existing share an investor holds. The shareholder does not pay any additional money. Dividends are also mostly done annually but many companies do not do them because small dividends create more paperwork, expenses, and bookkeeping problems. I would prefer stock split over dividend as it would make more shares and more affordable for those that want more as well as those that might now have been able to afford it otherwise. For example, Microsoft’s stock was almost $175 per share currently. If split I would have 2 shares and they would both value $87.50 meaning I have not lost anything. I can buy more and others that are not willing to spend over $100 per share can now invest as well. In the long run I will gain more money from a split. There are many other companies that each share cost way more for example Tesla. Currently Tesla’s stock price was almost $800 per share. Would you be more willing to buy stock in Tesla if it were to split? Or would you buy at its current price and hope for dividends at the end of the year? The following article provides a little more on stock split and stock dividends.

Identify any signs in D.R.’s presentation that could indicate he is considering suicide.

Write a (2-3) two to three-page paper (excluding APA title page and reference pages) about Intimate Partner Violence. Your paper should include:
You have been treating D.R., a 15-year-old male, for ADHD for six months and you two have a good rapport.  When D.R. sees you for follow-up today, his mother is in attendance and asks to speak with you.  D.R. appears forlorn and avoids eye contact with you as his mother begins to speak.  She tells you that D.R. was attacked and beaten by a mob of students in the gym two weeks ago.  The incident was recorded by a student and placed on TikTok.  It was subsequently played numerous times on the news, although the minors’ faces were blurred.  She tells you she has seen a drastic change in his personality at home since the incident occurred.  She would like you to talk with D.R. because she is worried about him staying in his room so much and his refusal to go to school most days.
Once D.R.’s mother leaves the room, you ask him about the incident.  He advises that he was walking through the gym when six students initiated an unprovoked attack.  He was punched and kicked repeatedly and none of the other students present came to his aid.  D.R. states “I don’t want to go back.  No one can protect me, and nobody cares.  They’re all back in school already and I don’t think I can do this anymore”.
Identify any signs in D.R.’s presentation that could indicate he is considering suicide.
Provide current (within the last five years) data on the prevalence of suicide following bullying.
Provide three interventions with rationale, supported by a minimum of two scholarly sources, to aid in the prevention of suicide of this patient.
Note: Scholarly resources are defined as evidence-based practice, peer-reviewed journals; textbooks (do not rely solely on your textbook as a reference); and National Standard Guidelines. Review assignment instructions, as this will provide any additional requirements that are not specifically listed on the rubric.

Was Kohlberg right?  That is, do you agree with his stages of moral development?

Our Weiss textbook in Chapter 2 offers a brief summary of Kohlberg’s three levels (six stages) of moral development.  You may recollect these from your undergraduate psychology courses.  The central point for business is that Kohlberg’s work offers a way to observe behavior (level of moral maturity) in our world of business transactions.  Recall that developmental theorists equate growth to stages in life and that this movement is not prescribed (having a set timeline) but that movement from one stage to another is sequential (one must travel through stage A to reach stage B and so on).  According to Kohlberg, few of us reach Level 3, Stage 6 (acting right according to universal principles of justice and rights).  Was Kohlberg right?  That is, do you agree with his stages of moral development?  And, if few of us can (will) reach Level 3, Stage 6, why is this so?  Dr. Lovett
