Essay 1: Literary AnalysisOBJECTIVE:Compose a literary analysis of either one short story, or,if you prefer, two short stories in which you analyze how the story is written,thinking about aspects that go into storytelling (character, plot, theme,symbols, tone, setting, etc.) and how the author uses them in the story (orstories). Your goal by the end of the essay should be to come to new insightabout the story or stories, something about the characters, or what rolesymbols play, or how setting and tone are linked, or any number of otheroptions, using specific evidence to explain your point. There are sampleliterary essays in the Week 7 folder.This does not mean simply summarizing the piece(s),although you may need to summarize parts or all of your selected story.Instead, analysis is based on close examination of the way the story isconstructed to gain new insight into the storys meaning.In order toaccomplish this, you should first select the story or stories you want to writeabout. Itshould be typed, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1-inchmargins.
