In the final paper, you will apply the skills you have been developing throughout the course in analyzing scholarly arguments and working closely with images, focusing on a recent article that explores possible connections between Michelangelo and Caravaggio:
Make sure you clearly identify the author’s claims and the evidence adduced to support them, and then evaluate the persuasiveness of Fenichel’s argument based on your own visual observation and your knowledge from course readings, lectures, and sections.
You should not use any additional sources other than the assigned article and the readings for this course.
The paper should be 5 pages long, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and Times New Roman font, size 12, and it should make use of footnotes or endnotes only. Your footnotes/endnotes should make use of the Chicago Manual of Style format (Links to an external site.) (see section slides from week 9 for further instructions) and you will need to include a bibliography or list of works cited at the end of your paper.
Remember that every time you quote, paraphrase or summarize others’ work, facts, ideas, etc. you must cite your source to avoid plagiarism.
Please include illustrations of the works cited at the end of the paper with captions indicating artist, title, date, medium, and present location, and refer to the them as (Figure 1), (Figure 2), etc. throughout the paper.
