Describe the PMO competency continuum framework and its five stages.
Project Management Office
PMO helps bringing structure and support to project management, by providing consistent framework to project management, improving effectiveness and efficiency. PMO will standardize project’s process, will share resources, methodologies, tools, and techniques. Establishing a PMO is critical in creating a strong PM environment that will provide governance, structure, and support to project managers to ensure the delivery of projects in time and on budget. PMOs must also be able to provide the necessary support needed by the stakeholders, including but not limited to the board of directors and other team members.
The three types of Project Management Offices are supportive, controlling, and directive. A very important step in choosing the right type of PMO needed is assessing the needs and wants of the organization, which will determine clarity and help define the scope of the project.
