Drawing on your Norton Anthology introduction as needed (see esp. pp. 1028-30), choose one poem assigned for today and describe what makes it seem “modern,” as contrasted with the Victorian verse we have read. If it helps to compare and contrast with a short Victorian lyric, you may do so.

As with all poetry analysis, go into detail, citing words, phrases, and lines as needed to make your case. Pay attention to form — rhyme, meter, stanza structure, imagery, grammar, and so forth.
