Police departments generally include “protect and serve” in their mission statements. To what degree does the ways the mission statement is carried out depend on the leadership of the agency?
For this assignment, you will conduct an internet search for three different police departments and locate the mission statements on the departments’ webpages. These mission statements can come from local, state, federal, or tribal sources. Once you have located these three statements, address the questions listed below.
How are the mission statements similar, and how are they different?
Which departments list goals and visions, and what are those goals and visions?
What are the strategies of each department for effective policing?
How does each department handle police-community relations? Why is this important?
What action is each department taking to restore public trust in them?
Your completed assignment should be at least two pages in length and include a minimum of three sources.
