How the UAE dealt with loss of oil revenue

As part of this project, you will need to do original data collection. That means an original dataset that you do some kind of graphical/statistical analysis. The bar for quantitative analysis in this class is fairly low. It is enough to produce your own charts of the data using Excel or any other tool. You can also create tables that show averages by different categories, or anything else that helps you make your point. You may also do statistical analyses (regression, etc) if you have the relevant training and believe it would be important for your research question.
It is important to have original data in your paper. But at the same time, the main focus of the paper is not data collection. Rather, I want to see you to present a theoretically-informed article about an important issue in the Middle East. The data collection part of the paper is only one element. The data
you find may be more or less relevant to the research question, and that is fine.
For example, you may only be available to find general data that allows you to compare countries, and so its primary use is as background. That is OK. The point of data collection is to get used to collecting data rather than just reading sources. It is fine and indeed I even expect you to use a wide range of sources (newspaper articles, think tank reports, etc) when presenting your findings. Whatever helps you answer the research question is worth using.
so all of that to say that as you’re writing your paper, please do include what data you can find, but don’t feel like your paper is a success or failure based on the amount + quality you collect. In fact, the correct approach is to document what you could and couldn’t find, and to be open about the limitations
of your research. That is the best way to learn as a scholarly community.
