In 1871, Charles Darwin published The Descent of Man. An editorial by Augustin Fuentes (an anthropologist) in Science magazine raised some potentially troubling concerns about Darwin’s views on racism and sexism. There have been several rebuttals to this publication\, most notably by Jerry Coyne (an evolutionary biologist).
