The Benefits and Limitations of a Universal Basic Income Policy Essay

BASIC REQUIREMENTS (REQUIRED ELEMENTS): Word Count: 1,000 – 1,500 (word count must be displayed in the upper left hand corner of the brief) Three hyperlinked citations embedded within the brief. Please note, you may not display the citations at the end of the brief, hyperlinks need to be embedded within the narrative (for example like a news article). We want to link out to the citation at the point the information is used. One properly sized graph you prepared yourself (chosen from one of the graphs covered this semester). Again, the graph needs to be embedded within the brief at the point the concept is being discussed (i.e. it cannot be just randomly placed anywhere in the document, it needs to flow with the narrative). SOME POSSIBLE TOPICS: Housing Minimum wage The middle class Poverty Trade The environment Student loan debt Free college for all Healthcare Taxation Market Power (exhibited by large corporations) PART II: WRITING YOUR POLICY BRIEF (TWO SUBMISSIONS, A WORKING DRAFT AND A FINAL DRAFT) FYI, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO RECEIVE APPROVAL FOR YOUR FINAL DRAFT BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE DISCUSSION/PEER REVIEW PROCESS. FORMAT FOR YOUR MEMO USING YOUR CANVAS RICH CONTENT EDITOR: Make sure that you title your brief. Paragraph 1: Start with an ?Executive Summary? a fancy way of saying a well crafted introductory paragraph that “grabs” your reader’s attention. Do not make the introduction overly long…it should hit the big ideas, “inviting” your reader to continue on with the rest of the brief. Paragraphs 2: Description of the problem that your proposed policy or recommendation will be addressing. Paragraphs 3: Present your policy/recommendation. Paragraph 4: Provide analysis of your policy/recommendation being sure to share two strengths and one potential weakness. Paragraph 5: And lastly, provide a well-crafted conclusion. Gentle Reminder: do not introduce new information in your conclusion, a conclusion is a brief wrap-up/summary of what was presented in the previous 4 paragraphs. The point of the conclusion is to leave your reader with a summary of what you really want them to remember! Reminder: Use meaningful hyperlinks to cite your sources, don’t use URL’sLinks to an external site. (notice I did not put the URL address here, I used words describe what is in the link!) And most importantly, do not place your citations at the end of your paper, today’s readers want to view citations in the moment (think online news articles).Reminder: Include one graph that you drew/crafted yourself that speaks to your topic (find your graph from one of the MindTap graphs we covered this semester). Be sure your graph is properly sized so the final display is pleasing to the eye (i.e. keep in mind your audience is reading this online).I am requiring a draft copy be submitted that properly displays all of the required elements (i.e. I need to see the hyperlinked citations and graph as well as the basic formatting meets expectations).
