What are your overall reactions to the performance? Were you surprised, bored, excited, nauseated, elated?

Your critique should be in the form of an expository essay of at least three paragraphs. The opening paragraph should contain significant biographical data about the composer as it relates specifically to your chosen piece. Please also include any information you can find about the creation, public reception, critical success, etc… of your chosen piece.
The body paragraph(s) should mention specific details about the musical elements of the piece. Also, feel free to explain what elements are elements of the appropriate style period of your piece. The three choices represent one example of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods of music history. If you choose Bach’s b minor mass, please choose two choral numbers, one aria, and one duet to write about. If you choose Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, please choose one of the first three movements PLUS the fourth movement to write about. If you choose Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, please choose three arias and one duet to write about.
The closing paragraph should sum up your opinion of the success of the event (e.g. how well the performers worked together as a group, and the overall effectiveness of the performance for the audience) and the evidence supporting your opinion. What are your overall reactions to the performance? Were you surprised, bored, excited, nauseated, elated?
