Pick an issue that was NOT listed in the list of 10 with which we started the semester.
Using the learning objectives of Chapter 1, section 1, #1:
Explain why the issue should be a social problem.

Identify the OBJECTIVE component and the SUBJECTIVE component.
Using the learning objectives of Chapter 1, section 1, #4:
Walk your chosen issue through the FOUR (4) stages.
What could you do in the claims-making stage?
How might you legitimize your issue?
What might you do in the face of adversity?
What else might you have to do to make your issue a problem?
Think of this assignment as a proposal to get your issue some attention from whoever is the most appropriate leader.
[Writing tip: Avoid the use of 1st person (I, me, mine) and 2nd person (you, yours, us, our). However. 2nd person tense is OK if it used when writing about a group. For instance, “our group” is 2nd person and is an appropriate use; “You wouldn’t believe…” is an inappropriate use of 2nd person. Instead, “Many/Some people don’t believe…”]
This proposal is due June 5th by 11:59 PM. It is worth up to 20 points (you can think of each stage as worth five (5) points. There is a rubric attached to the assignment for you to reference. There is also an attached file of this activity.
